Next up, I modeled the eye-stalk front and pivot. It was designed to use an acrylic tube for the inside of the eye-stalk, which will carry the power for the eye’s LED. Then an aluminum tube will be cut up and slid over it.
Next up was the gun arm pieces. These will be put onto another aluminum tube, and have holes for a grub-screw to help hold them in place. Then I will need to bend eight 5mm aluminum rods for the “fins”. Getting the rods to adhere and stay in place will be interesting, probably will use JB-Weld.
After that was the model of the dome lights. I cut up the cage into separate pieces that are fit together and glued. This allowed me to print them all flat, and avoid the need for any support material.
The dome lights also have an inner cover/lens I printed in a translucent PETG with thin walls for the light to show through. I added some internal grooves that mimic the actual glass lenses from the show. They stand out really well, and diffuse the light nicely.
