Imma Firin’ Mah Laser!

Imma Firin’ Mah Laser!

April 12th, 2026

Time to get the skirt panels marked and cut. A while ago, I got some 24×36 sheets of 3mm MDF. 3mm seems a bit thin, but I do need it to bend/twist for some sections, so it would be easier than 6mm.

My XTool P3 laser is pretty big (18×36 bed size), but three of the panels are too large for that, Thankfully I sprung for the automated conveyor system. Set that up, and the large 24×36 panels fed into it quite nicely.

The conveyor requires some empty area at the top and bottom (~18cm). The panels I needed to use the conveyor for happened to leave ~20cm… Barely enough, but it worked.

I cut the remaining 24×36 MDF panels into 18×36 panels, and cut the rest of the panels on the laser bed without the conveyor.

And, yes… I remembered to mirror the panels for the other side this time.
