Pretty big update on the Dalek, literally. You never really know how big something is going to be until you actually see it in physical form.

Over the last two weeks, I’ve been modeling and printing the dome/head. This was the hardest thing for me to 3D model so far, since there are lots of details I had to put onto a curved/dome surface. To help with modeling all the details, I took a picture of the plans, imported it into Shapr3D, and sized/positioned it. After tracing the lines, I projected the sketch onto the dome. I think it came out pretty good in the end.

I cut the dome into 8 “pie slices”, so it could fit on my printers, and avoid large overhangs from the curves. Trying to get all the pie slices fitted together took some “encouragement” from a rubber mallet.
